THE McCUSKER RELIEF FUND.
The following acknowledgment appears in the Evening Post of Monday last : — " We have much pleasure in acknowledging the receipt from Mr. P. Galvin, one of the proprietors of the Hawera and Normanby Star, of a bank draft for .£34 1,25. 6d., which was collected in Hawera last Wednesday by Messrs. F. McGuire, J.P., and M. D. King, on behalf of Mrs. McCusker and her family, to whose sad case we recently drew attention. The fact that so handsome a sum was raised in a few hours speaks well for the generosity of the Hawera people." We have received £3 15s. since the above amount wus forwarded to the Editor of the Evening Post, and also £3 13s from the camp at Mauaia.
Messrs. M'Guire, White, and I. Bayly took a ride to the Plains on Thursday afternoon, and visited the camp atManaia. C .ptain Gudgeon, having been informed of what had been done in Hawera in aid of Mrs. McCusker and family, took a subscription-list round amongst the men, with the result that £9 18s was collected. £8 13s of that amount has been handed to us, and the remainder will be collected on the next pay day.
