Carlyle, Tuesday.

To-day is observed as a general holiday, and tnany people have gone to the races at Waverley.

At a meeting of the Harbor Board yesterday the breakwater contract was finally taken over from the contractor, to whom the balance, about £1500, will be paid.

The first meeting of creditors in the estate of Francis Wiiliaruson was held at the Court House yesterday, Mr. S. Taplin in the chair. Proofs were handed in for over The debtor valued his assets at £445. Mr. Taplin was appointed creditors' trustee, and proceedings were adjourned till Ist December next, when the debtor will be examined before Judge Shaw.
