HAWERA GUN CLUB.

The first match, since the inauguration of the club, toak place yesterday. There was a good attendance of spectators, although the' number of entries for the match was small. Two points were awarded to each competitor who killed his bird with the first barrel, one point being allowed to all who needed both barrels to grass then* birds. Fifty birds were trapped, of which three escaped. Forty-seven were fired at, and twentyone killed ; consequently the betting was slightly in favor of the bird. The high wind, however, was greatly against the gun. Five dead birds were picked up oui oi bounds. The conditions of thd club match were as follows : — The Club Prize, of ;82, added to a sweepstakes of 10s each. Four birds, at 21 yards rise. Two misses to fall out. Eight entries. First prize, £Z\ second, £2 ; third, £1.
