Melbourne, Last night. The trial of Ned Kelly has commenced, a further postponement being refused.

Mata is now first favorite for the Cup. Avernus has been scratched.

Columbus, Geraldine, and Stag have been scratched for the Melbourne Cup.

In the Assembly, on Thursday night, Mr. Service made a severe attack on Mr. Berry for re-appointing his son to a posiiion in the Civil Service, from which he had been removed by his (Mr. Service's) Ministry. Mr. Berry's action is much commented upon. " King George's Scvosd, Last night.
