(ntOV OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) Carlyle, Tuesday. Messrs. Mace and Basset are the 'successful tenderers for No. 2 culvert con-
tract, near Manutahi. Three others ten-
tered, and the prices were: — Mace and •Bassett, £807 17s ; Walton Pell, £988 10s ; James O'Sullivan, £1092 4s 8d ; Downes, Procter, and Co., £1153 18s. Francis Williamson will appear at the B.M. Court to-day, in response to two summonses for assault, at the instance of the two constables who apprehended him at Waitotara recently. The cricket match, first eleven v. next twenty-two, was continued on Saturday, the latter b ing 52 runs behind. They succeeded in* putting on the respectable score of 84, of which May, A. Black, and , F. R«ad contributed 12, 15, and 19 respectively. The eleven had only to get 88 to score a win; butiieenan was the only one who made a stand — 16, not out, and seven wickets were lost ere the required number was obtained. For next Saturday is arranged a match, 'Whenuakura v. Patea. On the vacant section adjoining the court house has been erected a bell tower, and the new fire bell has been placed in position. '
