The usual two sales have taken place during the past fortnight; the one at Hawera was well-attended with buyers, bidding was very brisk, and capital prices were obtained for all that were offered; when -taking into consideration the large number of cattle entered, the sale must be classed as satisfactory for the vendors. At the yards to-day a large entry of cattle was made, prices were maintained throughout the sale, and all the pens were cleared. Sheep were in small supply, and sold at fair values. The sale of the Fordell estate caused a good deal of interest, a great number of settlers and others attending. The nrojjerty was started at JJB per acre ; the bidding ran quickly up to £ C J, and at that price it was knocked down to Mr. H. Sergeant. The house and land situated in Victoria Avenue was passed in; the price offered did not reach the vendor's reserve.
