PATEA AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

A committee meeting of the Agricultural Association was held on Friday last. Present — Mr. Chapman, president, in the chair ; Messrs. J. Dickie, 0. Hawes, W. Gower, R. Heam, J. D. Powdrell, R. B. Pearce, J. Gibson, C. Syme, R. E. Mcßae, H. Eiseley, W. Wilson, and E. M. HoneyfieW.
CORRESPONDENCE.
A letter was read from Mr. Livingston, Hawera, accepting the explanation of the committee as satisfactory, and stating that a yery.creditable programme was advertised. Mi*. Livingston withdrew his resignation, and wished the association success.
From the secretary of the agricultural association, Carterton, Wairarapa, regretting that, as their show will be held on the sth November, it is impracticable to ofler any nominations of judges from their district ; but expressing a hope ibat next year arrangements may be made by ■which Tooth societies would he mutually benefited.
From Messrs. Galvin and Co., in reference to advertising.
It was proposed and seconded pro forma^ — That it be optional whether ladies' hacks be ridden by ladies or gentlemen. — The motion was lost on the voices.
It was proposed, seconded, and carried, in each case, that Messrs. H. H. Stafford, Stoke, Nelson ; John Kerr, Waimea West, Nelson ; and Charles Canning, Richmond, Nelson, be asked to act as judges of blood stock, draught horses, and sheep and pigs respectively ; Mr. Canning to take hoth sheep and. pigs. lit was resolved that Messrs. D. Coutts, and R. W. Foreman, be asked to act as judges of produce and implements. The following gentlemen were elected as class stewards from the committee : — Blood horses : R. E. Mcßae and R. Homer. Draught horses : N. Hearn and J. D. Powdrell. Cattle : J. Hair and C. Syme. Sheep and pigs : O. Hawes and E. M. Honeyfield. Produce and implements , J. Riseley and W. Wilson. Dogs and poultry : R. B. Pearce (alone).
It was proposed that the gate privilege be sold, the reserve price to be £40 j but an amendment — That tbe association keep the gates, and employ men to collect the entrance fees — was carried.
Proposed, seconded, arid carried — That there be two booths on the ground for sale of spirits, &c, and two refreshment (teetotal) stalls, to be sold by public auction-, at least a week before the show, the reserve price for the publicans' booths to be £5 each, and for the refreshment stalls 10b each.
Proposed, seconded, and carried — That auction sales be allowed on the ground after 4 p.m., for stock and other exhibits entered for the show ; two and a half per cent, commission to be given to the association.
Proposed, seconded, and carried— That a dinner be held after the show, at 6.30 p.m., : and that the president, Mr. Gibson, and Mr. Mcßae be a committee to make the necessary arrangements. The following accounts were passed for payment: — J. Gibson (ribbon, &c.,), 6s 3d; G. D. Hamerton (preparing deed, &c.,), £2 12s 4d ; A. Black (printing), 17s 6d ; J. Seaworthy (stationery), 10b.
