Melbourne, Thursday. Sir Hercules Bobinson arrived here today. In tlie Assembly to-day, Sir Bryan O'Loghlin opposed the Government's retrenchment proposals, especially the reduction in the Law department. An article which appeared in the Argus on the new members of the Elections and Qualifications Committee was protested against by Mr. Fincbam as a breach of privilege. Mr. Berry asked the House to decide whether it should take action to serve, as a warning, to the Argus for all time. Mr. Service defended the Argus, and the motion which was before the House was eventually withdrawn. The race meeting in honor of Sir Hercules Bobinson is postponed until Monday. Adelaide, Thursday. The Sorato's bottom is very much crushed. Every effort is being made to stop the leakage, and an attempt will be made to tow her off to-night. Later. The Sorato has become a total loss, and all hope of getting her off is abandoned. Tlie lower decks are now Iralginp; in, and ffe&rs ays entertained of her entirely breaking up,
