TAKANAKI LAND BOARD.

(From the Taranaki Herald.) Monday, 13th September.

Present — Messrs. Kelly (in the chair), Crompton, and SSyme.

INGAHAPE ROAD.

A letter was read from Messrs. Allen and West, complaining that the Hawera Road Board were about to expend illegally part of the deferred payment money on the Ingahape road. The consideration of the letter was deferred until a reply was received from the Minister of Lands, as to whether the board had any control over the land situated in the newly-constituted West Coast Land District.

DEFAULTERS.

A letter was received from Messrs. Gane Bros., stating that they were unable to pay the instalments clue on one of their sections, owing to losses sustained by them.

The matter was deferred until it was known whether the board had power to deal with it.

EXTENSION OF TIME.

An application was made by Mrs Schultz for an extension of time for the payment of the instalment due upon her allotment.

The board agreed to grant an extension of time for six months.

LAND AT NGAIRE.

A memo, was read from the Undersecretary for Crown Lands, stating that certain lands in the Ngaire district had been set apart on deferred payment.

PAYMENT OF INSTALMENTS.

Mrs. Petrie requested permission to pay the five instalments accruing due on section 137, Moa.

On the motion of Mr. Syme, seconded by Mr. Crompton, it was resolved " That the board being satisfied that all the conditions of improvements required by the t rms of land held on deferred payments have been fulfilled as regards section 137, Moa, accepts the application of Mrs. Jessie Peteie to pay the balance oi' the purchase money thereon; and authorises the Receiver of Land Revenue to receive the same, in accordance with Section 52 of the Taranaki Waste Lands Act, 1874."

TRANSFERS.

An application was made by William Goble to transfer allotment No. 176, Moa district, containing 111 acres, to C. W. Govett. — Granted. ''

A. Marshall applied to transfer section 147, Moa district, to E. R. Shaweron. — Granted.

CONTIGUOUS ALLOTMENTS.

A letter was read from T. E. Crowhurst asking the board to grant him permission to purchase section No. 9, Ngaire district.

The section not being contiguous to the other allotments held by applicant on deferred payments, the board decided that it had no power under the Act to accede to the application, but agreed to recommend the Government that allotments 3, 8, and 15 be sold, as they are deemed to be contiguous within the terms of Section 6 of the Waste Lands Act, 1879.

APPLICATIONS TO PURCHASE.

The following applications to purchase land on deferred payment were acceded to:— N. H. Todd, section 80, block 1, Ngaire, containing 60 acres; Henry Hughes, section 26, block 10, Ngaire, 67 acres; Patrick Fitzpatrick, section 13, "block 6, Ngaire, 133 acres ,- W. Johnson, sections 55 and 56, block 1, Ngaire, 256 acres ; H. R. Baker, section 20, block 6, Ngaire, 252 acres.

LAND FOR SALE.

The Chief Surveyor laid on the table a plan of sections in the Huiroa district which had been surveyed and were ready to be offered for sale.

On the motion of Mr. Syme, seconded by Mr. Grompton, it was agreed, " That forty sections be recommended to be offered for sale on deferred payment, at £1 per acre, on the 19th November next, at the Crown Lands Office, New Plymouth."
