DISCONTENT IN THE ARMED CONSTABULARY.

TO^THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Siß,4^Kindly allow me space in your journal to bring a gross mismanagement of a portion of the Force nnder tbe notice of the proper authorities, and the public generally. A number of men, under the command of Sub-Inspector Taylor, in Major Goring's camp, have been lately transferred into another company, which the men transferred feel aggrieved at, owing to the unmilitary and piqueing manner in which they were selected — not alphabetically, or by odd or even numbers, as is usually done in European armies, and always in the British and colonial forces, where all men in the ranks are considered equal, which is not the case in Sub-Inspector Taylor's selection, notwithstanding that the men apparently spurned by him are thoroughly efficient and well conducted, and intend to remain for some time longer in the service, and may eventually settle in the colony. They now, in addition to others, feel disgusted that they, in addition to the dozens leaving weekly, will soon bid adieu to New Zealand. It is to be deplored that the sub-inspector in question has not made himself more thoroughly acquainted with men whom he should feel proud of 'commanding. — I am, &c, An A.C. Ex-Constable.
