THE RIMUTAKA RAILWAY ACCIDENT.
~ ,(P.EB .UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) After the funeral the inquest at FeatherBton was resumed on Tuesday, when several passengers, the guard, and the Manager of Railways were examined, the evidence being lo the effect that the wind was the cause of the accident.
The juryjreturned the following verdict : — •• The verdict of. the jury is that, after full consideration of the evidence brought before them, the deaths of Ida Pharazyn and Francis John Nicholas were purely accidental, and caused by a carriage being blown off the line down the embankment on the, Rimutaka incline; and in the opinion of the jnry no blame is attached to anyone." Th,e following rider was «,dded j- 1 -" That the Government should construct wind-sheds to prevent similar accidents on dangerous par ts of the incline ; and that ' telegraph communication be established."
