A letter was received from Mr. Ulston, stating that the reason why he had not paid the instalment due on his section at Whakamara, was because he was " stumped." The chairman was instructed to ask the Government Whether the Board still has power to complete engagements entered into prior to the passing of. the West Coast Settlements Act, 1880.
A letter was also received from H. Renger, stating the reason he had not paid his instalment was that he was not aware the second instalment was due upon his section. — On the.motion of Mr. Syme, it was resolved — "That the Board being satisfied with the statement made by Mr. Renger, the Receiver be instructed to receive the instalment."
