London, September 8. At the wool sale, yesterday, 6200 bales were offered. The prices were firmly maintained. . , A terrible .explosion occurred to-day at the Seaham colliery, by which 150 miners have been killed, or are entombed in the mine._ The Duke of Bedford has been created a Knight of the Garter. The Board of Trade returns show that the exports for the last month amount to as compared with last year. The imports amounted to M 1,187,500,, 187,500, being an increase of £2,687,500. . , Calcutta, September 8. The Viceroy of India has received a telegram from General Eoberts, to the effect that Ayoub Khan's losses in the recent engagement were very severe. General Phayre, with his reinforcements, has arrived at Candahar. At the wool sales, to-day, 9900 bales ■were offered,' making a total of 174,200 hales catalogued Since the opening-. The Jane of Jiojftay's auction was irregular. "* Gonsols'*totd'ay"are quoted at 97£. *, ' "' New Zealand securities kre" unchanged. New Zealand wheat, ex ship, remains at 425. Adelaide breadstuffs declined Is. to-day, and are now quoted at 46s 6d for wheat, and 33s for flour, ex warehouse.
