Monday, August 30.
A long discussion took place on a motion of Sir George Grey's about the Patetere Block, which led to a vigorous protest from Mr. Sheehan as to the waym/^hich Sir George Grey had treated him in the matter. Ultimately the motion was withdrawn, on a promise being given that the Government would carefully consider any further action about the Patetere Block.
The Bailways Bill, to authorise the spending of money voted for the ThamesWaikato line, and the Hamilton to Cambridge line, was so vigorously opposed that the Governm. Nt said they would not go beyond the second reading. This was carried by 25 to 17, and the Bill was then dropped. The Permanent Officials Salaries Bill, to reduce certain officers 10 per cent., was carried through all its stages. The Public Works Appropriation Bill was postponed. On the final stage of the Appropriation Bill a long discussioiuirose, several members ventilating their grievances, and reviewing the work' of the session.

Tuesday, August 81. The House met at 2.30 p.m., when, after & short discussion, the" Appropriation Bill. was passed.' It also passed in the Legislative Council, and both Houses adjourned until to-morrow, when Parliament will be prorogued by Commission.
