A meeting was held at the Albion Hotel on Saturday evening of parties interested in the formation of a Eowing Club. The attendance was small, but several influential local gentlemen having promised the promoters their support, the meeting appointed a provisional committee 'of five to canvass for members,ascertain the prices of boats, Ac, and report to another, meeting in a month.
The return football match, Waverley versus Fatea, will be played at Waverley on Saturday. The first game' was drawn in favor of Waverley.
The Otago hounds will meet here on Thursday — not to-morrow, an accident having occurred — at the Albion, Hotel at 2 o'clock. There will be a run over the Whenuakura Block. ' ' Mr. G." F: Sherwood is a pasßenger by tbe Fatea.
The ordinary monthly meeting of tbe Harbor Board was held yesterday, Mr. J. Milroy being in the chair, but tbe business was of an unimportant character. Fifty men of the Wellington unemployed are understood to be on the way here, via Wanganui. Messrs. Downes and Proctor will not commence active operations for about a month. The timber and iron have not yet been quite arranged for. '
