THE TARANAKI HARBOR
INQUIRY.
[Specially Telegraphed to Star.]
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
Wellington, Tuesday night.
Mr. Barleyman, Mr. Rees, Mr. Bauchope, and others, are here in connection with the New Plymouth Harbor Board inquiry, but nothing of a decisive nature has been done yet. All of them have been examined before a committee of both Houses.
It is understood that there is every indication of the committee siding with Mr. Rees, as against Sir John Coode, respecting the recommendations made.
People here laugh at the idea of setting Mr. Bees up against Sir John Coode.
Mr. Sherwood is active and keen as a ferret in watching the interests of Patea ; but owing to a hostile Ministry, and the pervading spirit of retrenchment, his mission is beset with considerable difficulties.
