LATER.

Calcutta, July 29. It is reported from Afghanistan that in consequence of the warlike attitude of Yakoub Khan's adhei-ents at Ghuzni, the evacuation of the city of Cabul by the British troops will probably now be deferred.

In the House of Commons, the Marquis of Hartington, Secretary of State for India, made a statement concerning Afghanistan and the Ameership. He said he had been informed that it was impossible yet to enter into any negotiations regarding Candahar and Gundamuk. It had been decided by the Government that no foreign influence should be allowed at Cabul, and that no British Resident should be sent there. Probably it might be decided to send a Mahomedan Envoy instead.
