EARLY CLOSING.

TO '''HE EDITOR OF THE STAR.

Sir, — I am glad to see that the storekeepers of Hawera are endeavoring to have an early closing movement during these long winter nights. No doubt some of the employers may hold out against giving this boon to employees ; but even those who refuse must recognise that if all agree to close, say, at seven o'clock, it will not in any way be the means of diminishing their takings. I would suggest that the names of those willing to grant this boon to their employees be published, and also the names of those individuals who refuse. The public will then be able to judge for themselves. — I am, &c.
