DEFERRED PAYMENTS.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR.
Sir, — I have been looking on at the correspondence respecting the sale of Crown^ lands. " Old Colonist " proposes that purchasers of every 100 acres should pay .£lO per for ten years, and ,£2OO at the end of the term. The Government plan of deferred payment for the same would be ,£lO per annum for ten years and nothing at the end of the term. " Old Colonist's " plan would provide a fund beyond the deferred payment system about enough, to pay off the loan for the Taranaki harbor, which would chiefly come out of the pockets of new arrivcils, leaving old colonists scot free. The proposal is too transparent. — I am, <fee,
New Chum.
