CARLYLE TOWN BOARD ELECTION.

Carlyle, June 4.
The election of members for the three vacancies in the Town Board took place yesterday. There were six candidates. The following is result of polling : — G. F. Sherwood 51 S. Taplin 47 W. Dixon.>. 39 W. Dale, jun 26 J. Whelan 24 J. Lett 15 The first three were elected. There was little or no excitement until the close of the poll at 6 p.m. After the returning officerhad declared the result, Messrs Sherwood and Dixon briefly returned thanks. Mr. Taplin, though present, and urgently requested to follow Mr. Sherwood, did not express himseti. Probably, he was overcome by his feelings of gratification at the proud position in which he found himself placed.
