Wellington, Tuesday night. At the Supreme Court, the case of Lockie and other shareholders of the Wellington City Tramway Company v. Macdonald and others, was commenced. The action was to set aside the sale of the tramway to the Wellington Tramway Company, which took place in October last, on the ground that the defendants were intimately interested. The case is not likely to conclude until to-morrow.

The body of Cooley, one of the men drowned in the Wairarapa Lake, was found this morning.

A sharp shock df earthquake was felt here at 12.42 this afternoon. The direction was from north to south.

Oamartt, Tuesday night.

Julia Paul, who murdered her infant in the gaol on Sunday morning, was brought before the Court this morning, and remanded for medical examination as to her sanity.

Nelson, Tuesday night.

The charges against Teschemaker, Bunny, Percy Adams, and Langley Adams, for conduct likely to provoke a breach of the peace, which arose out of an attempted horse-whipping case, Bunny and Teschemaker were dismissed. Langley Adams was fined 20s, and Percy Adams £2, and bound over to keep the ppace for six months.

Auckland, Tuesday night.

The charge against J. C. Young, native land agent, for embezzling «£sl, the property of the Government, was dismissed. Some other indictments have yet to be heard.
