_— * HELP FROM COUNCIL In its estimates for 1948-49 the Lower Hutt City Council has made the following grants to Bands: £ Civic 250 Municipal 35 High School ....... 25 Pipe 25 The Council controls the Civic Band, aud out of the £250 pays the salary of the conductor, buys music, etc. The amounts for the other Bands •are straight-out grants. The Civic Band is applying for permission to give a series of Sunday night concerts in the Horticultural Hall.
Tin) Band has also been engaged by the Kilbirnie Wrestling Association to assist at a concert in Wellington on September 5.
