Semple, said that the policy of the Government is to provide bouses to meet the needs of all sections of the community.

A number of blocks of flats, continued Mr. Semple, have been built by the Department to cater for the housing needs of childless couples and c-lderly people, and several building sites were set aside in Lower Hutt, where it was intended to build flats of one bedroom and two bedrooms. However, tHo shortage of steel and cement has made it impossible for the Deparlment lo proceed with the several proposals for flats which il has in hand.
