Hutt Aero Club
v DRIVE FOR MEMBERS
PROVISION OF FACILITIES
“It is our duly to future generations to provide personal flying facilities,” said the president of the Hutt Valey Aero Club at a recent meeting of the general committee. During the discussion which followed Mr. A. C. Elworthy showed a number of large aerial photographs of areas suitable to bo developed as landing strips in the Valley. It was decided to hold a drive to obtain a target of 200 foundation members before the next general meeting of the Club. With a membership of that size the club could explore in detail the possibilities of providing personal flying facilities in the Hutt Valley. A sub-committee was set up to arrange a programme of lectui'es of interest to all members, particular emphasis being placed on assisting those desiring to learn to fly.
CONSIDERATION BY COUNCIL The membership of the Hutt Valley Aero Club has increased from 20 to GO, according to a letter received by the Lower Hutt City Council on Monday night. The club asked the Council if it had any plans for air strips in the Valley; if so it would be pleased to discuss them. The club’s aim was the provision of facilities for personal flying, and it felt that the City Council was vitally interested in such development. The matter was referred to the Works and Town Planning Committee.
