Town Clock
SITE NOT SUITABLE Recently a request was made to the Lower Hutt City Council by the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce and Industry that the town clock that was dismantled some years ago should be re-erected in Andrews’ Avenue.
At a meeting of the council of the Chamber last week a reply was received from the Town Clerk, stating that in view of the great expense of erecting the in the locality suggested and the unsuitability of the site owing to traffic problems the request could not be granted. The question’ of the reerection of the clock would be held over until the civic centre scheme was gone on with.
