The entries were the largest for years and the quality was excellent. Horticultural Hall: The lease to the Lower Hutt City Corporation is working ismoothly and a pleading feature to thf> appearance of the building is the removal of the hedge, and incorporating the building ifi Riddiford Park.

Good Work by Women

■ The ,-thaerks of the Society are due to tne women’s committee under the convenorship of Mrs. J. E. F. Vogel, in organising a stali, serving afternoon tea and entertaining visitors at each Show. The bank balance of the women’s committee disclosed,a credit balance of £9B/16/10. ' Three Junior Societies of the Hutt Valley have affiliated with the Society during the year, which marks a big advance in the activities of the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society. The societies are the Up'per Hutt Horticultural Society, the Naenae-Waddington Garden Circle and the Taita Garden Circle.

Once again we desire to express our thanks and appreciation to the press for the friendly manner in which they have assisted the Society throughout the year. We extend our special thanks to the local press for the space they devoted to the reports of the various shows: this has materially stimulated public interest in our organisation, and we desire to acknowledge it.
