VISIT TO SYDNEY

A. ' ♦ 1 POPULAR PETONE GIRLS The Misses Valerie and Patricia Simpson, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. J. Simpson, of Petone, are visiting Sydney, and report that, they are having “a wonderful time.” Patricia, who won the Paramount Screen Test in Wellington recently, is enjoying her holiday as first prize winner.

On arrival at Sydney Valerie and Patricia were met by five press reporters and Mr. Dole, of Columbia Pictures, who presented (the girls with bouquets of gladioli. Mr. Dole entertained them at dinner at the Hotel Australia, and escorted them on a sight-seeing tour of the city. On their second day in Sydney they were the guests of the Commissioner for New Zealand at lunch.

Valerie, who is the holder of many awards for singing, and was a most successful competitor at the Hutt Valley Competitions Society’s recent festival, has been admitted to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Patricia is to have a screen test for Columbia before returning home.
