TRIBUTE BY POWER HOARD
At the last meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Hoard Mr. J. \y. Andrews tendered his resignaHnn. owing lo his appointment to the Local Government Commission. He staled that, he regretted severing his connection with tlie Board, and thanked members for their co-opera-tion (in tin* motion of the chairman (Mr. G. L. Giesen) and Mr. H. Green the resignation was accepted with regret, and Mr. Andrews was thanked for past services. Good wishes were expressed for Mr. ami Mrs Andrews’ happiness and prosperity. I.atrr the Board decided to join in the public farewell that is to be tendered Mr. and Mrs. Andrews by the local bodies and other organisations of the Hutt Valley.
TALK ON CIVIC AFFAIRS
GIFT TO RETIRING MAYOR
A very interesting talk on civic affairs was given by the retiring Mayor. Mr. J. W. Andrews, at the luncheon of the Hutt Valley Junior Chamber of Commerce and Industry last week. Mr. Andrews visualised the Lower Hutt of the future, when its business premises and public amenities have caught up with its great growth in population. Opportunity was taken by the president of the Chamber, Mr. Leo. Brown, to congratulate Mr. Andrews tilion his appointment to the Local Government Commission and to thank him for his services to the Hutt Valley. On behalf of the Chamber Mr. Brown banded Mr. Andrews a book as a slight tribute of esteem and good wishes.
