— REVISION THIS MONTH improvement hoped roR Tin* electric power outs were discussed at last week’s meeting <n Hi'* Hutt Valley Electric Power Hoard. Mr. P. Dowse considered that the half-hour out between I"." 11 and tl
p.m. caused unnecessary inconvenio’lce, and a later cut. say I rout 11
lo t 1.20 p.m.. would cause less interruption. He also thought that the saving effected by restricting the use of water-heaters was insufficient to justify tlie hardship caused. The cuts in the Hutt Valley wen* more severe* than I host* in \\ elliugton. and In' could see no reason lor that. The engineer. Mr. 1. R- Robinson. said ihat the cuts would I><* revised towards the end oi June. wh'*tt ihe needs oi poultry keepers would have to in* considered, and tie hoped ;i would then he possible to eliminate some of the cuts. ment in i In* supply posilion was imped for.
Hot Water Meters
A report prepared by ihe engineer on the installation of meters on water healers stated that the change-
over to the meter system had cost ,t:s2 l »uiu, hut then had been in
change in revenue. it had resulted in a 20 per cent, reduction in consumption of electricity, and thus had achieved the object of the controller.
Mr. R. R lack ley said that if Hie installation of meters had cost tin* Halt Valley Hoard £22.000 it would probably cost other Boards considerably more. The total cost would provide a good standby plant.
