REPLACEMENT OF APPLIANCES

At the last meeting of the Hutt

Valley Electric Power Board a letter was received from the Electricity Controller, Mr. F. T. Kissell, stating that ho had received complaints concerning the replacing of gas appliances with electrical equipment in cases where the gas equipment was considered due for replacement. The Electricity Control Order stipulated that no supply authority should connect to its system of supply any cooking, baking, or water-heating system where an alternative to electricity was reasonably available, stated the letter. Where dwellings were connected to a gas supply any application made by occupiers of such dwellings for electric cooking, baking, or water-heating, should be ( declined as long as the control order was in force. The matter was left in the hands of the engineer.
