GROWTH IN HTTT VALLEY Members of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board, at a meeting last week, expressed the opinion that in view of the large increase in the erection of new houses and oilier buildings in the Hutt Valley, compared with other Power Board areas, the district should receive a iarger allocation of power from thp Electricity Con! roller. . A report prepared al the request of Mr. J. \Y. Andrews showed thai the Hutt Valley's growth of 29;'.:i new houses and 84 other buildings during the last three years was the second largest in the North Island. Auckland neing first with 427<> houses and 212 other buildings. Waitemata was third with 20-Hi houses and r>6 other buildings. Mr. J. \V. Andrews considered thai In view of the big increase in the number of new connections in the Hutt Valley a bigger increase than live per cent, should be allowed in the power allocation. The increase In factories was probably greater here than in any other part of New Zealand. After further discussion it, was decided that the chairman and tinsecretary consider the figures and report to a future meeting.
