MARRIED COUPLE FINED Charges of bookmaking werg admitted in the Magistrate’s Court, Lower Hutt, last week by a married couple, Frank Herbert Smith and Laura Eyelyn Smith. The Magistrate, Mr. H. G. Thompson, imposed lines of £6O and £SO respectively. According to police evidence detectives visited tiie homes of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and found evidence of betting. Mrs. Smith admitted taking between. £2O and £3O in bets over the telephone, which she said she did practically every Saturday. Later Slmith arrived home, and he also admitted taking bets.
