COMMENT ON LOWER" HUTT

The Swiss Consul, Mr. C. Theiler, who spoke to Hutt Rotarians last week on the subject of his country’s neutrality during the war, made some pertinent comment on the name of Lower Hutt.

As a foreigner, he said, he found it difficult to understand the meaning of the name. For some time he assumed that a place with such a name could not be very important and was probably a suburb of Wellington. In that case he imagined a Rotary Club in such an area would be very easy to join.
