AMATEUR ATHLETICS
VERY SUCCESSFUL SEASON "A very successful season," said Mr. J. N. Millard, presiding at the annual general meeting of the Hutt Amateur Athletic Club, referring to ihe 1945-4(5 season. The club has great possibilities for the coming season. Special attention is to be given to coaching, with the assistance of excellent coaches. A great forward step in the club is the formation of a coaching committee consisting of such capable men as F. S. Ransom, Norman Player, J. W. McHolm, and T. C. Gilmour, a newcomer from British Columbia, who will concentrate especially on the pole vault, having cleared 12 feet himself. There will be no competitive sport in the club until December. Another subject for discussion was the changing of the club colours, it being decided to adhere to the white singlet with red wings as the monogram and the shorts to be red. Election of Officers Interest was expressed in the coming United States athletes' tour, the club deciding to support the Wellington Centre. Training runs will commence on Monday, October 21st. All-intend-ing athletes are invited to take advantage of the coaching. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr. W. Nash; vice-patron, Mr. J. W. Andrews; president, Mr. J. N. Millard; vice president, Mr. J. W. McHolm; club captain, N. Player; vice-clt'vcaptain, R. Swain; secretary, C. Cairns; treasurer. N. Rodley; committee, Messrs. F. S. Ransom, McGill, Wliittington, Melrose, DoriMn, K. J. Payne; delegate to Wellington Centre, Mr. A. Monigatti.
