AIR LANDING STRIPS
PLANS FOR HUTT VALLEY REPORT BY TOWN PLANNER At a recent meeting of the Town Planning Committee of the Lower Hull City Council the Town Planner reported,.that as Chief Technical Officer to the Regional Planning Council' he had discussed with officers of the Aerodrome Branch, Public Works Department, the best location of a landing strip to serve the requirements of the private and "taxi" aircraft in the Lower Valley area. The physical configuration of the Valley ruled out any possibility of the development of a major commercial aerodrome, but it would be possible to construct an "air park" with a runway of approximately 2000 feet to accommodate light aircraft. When various factors were taken into consideration the most suitable location for an air park appeared to point to the southern end of the Valley. It was rapidly becoming necessary to provide a national system of intercity facilities, and in this area reservations should be made now to provide for this essential link in the communication system of the future. The report was received and on the recommendation of the Town Planner it was decided to make application for the release to the Council of a report which had been made by the Public Works Department to the Director of Civil Aviation on this question.
