Riddiford Baths
WEATHER AFFECTS TAKINGS The supervisor, Mr. C. D. Richardson, presented the following report on the Riddiford Baths to the Lower Hutt City Council on Monday night: "The weather for the most part has been very indifferent during the season, and this is reflected in tne revenue. The leakage position is much the same as last year, but 1 would again suggest that a small sum be placed on the estimates for attending to the worst looking cracks. The baths were closed for die season on Easter Monday. Un fortunately the takings for April were only 13/9 owing to good wea cher failing to materialise. "Every year I sign, make out and issue on behalf of the New Zealand iwimmins Association about 600' swim cerr.i.fcates. There are four ijfl'erent certificates and the mini.■mm dish r.ee for each is 33 l-o yards, 50 yards, 220 yards and 880 »«*rds. 1 h-.se all have to be certified. "There has been a tremendous amount of life-saving this season ivi Mr. Latham Andrews and my£<>if have had a busy time examining candiortes for the awards. 1 like to commend to the Council the unselfish attitude of Mr. An drews in coming forward, almost right on his arrival back from the war, and so adequately conducting L'u,Jy half of the examinations." The Council expressed its appreciation of the services rendered by Mr. Andrews.
