BOY SCOUT HEADQUARTERS

LONG TOW FOR BUILDING The building to be used for the new headquarters of the Hutt Valley and Bays Boy Scouts County was formerly a Naval Electrical School building on the Petone foreshore, and was dismantled by Scouts, committeemen and other voluntary labour for removal to a site behind the Lower Hutt City Council yards in High Street.

On Sunday afternoon the builcfing was towed to its new site, the "procession" creating great interest. The long haul took just over six hours. The tow was carried out by the lorries and drivers of N. P. Croft, Ltd., as a goodwill effort for the Scout movement. Inspectors A. J. Archer and M. 0. Hutton, of the Lower Hutt City traffic staff, controlled the traffic, and vans from the Hutt Valley Electric .Power Board and the Post and Telegraph Department accompanied the tow to deal with any difficulty that might arise with overhead wires.
