HUTT VALLEY ASSOCIATION On Friday and Saturday, November 2rd and 3rd, tlie Hutt Valley Lawn Tennis Association is making its iirst attempt to win the two major tennis trophies 111 New Zealand —the Wilding Shield lor men, and the Nunneley Casket For ladies. It is considered that the local association 'has a very good prospect of winning at least one of the trophies, in which case Valley tennis I followers will soon have an opportunity of seeing the first big tennis match to be staged in the Valley. The Canterbury Association has already lodged challenges for both trophies with the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association and the winner of the niatches on November 2nd and 3rd will be called on to defend the Shield and Casket, probably on December 15th. Ranking matches to decide the teams to play against Wellington are not complete at the time of going to press, but the following complete results to date give a fair indication of players likely to catch the eye of the selectors: — Ladies.
