BELMONT WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

A team from the Federation Executive visited the Belmont Women's Institute at the July meeting, and gave an hour's entertainment in the form of a debate, for, and against, "amalgamation with the W.D.F.U." and a round-table conference of Institute questions and answers, with two delightful solos by Mrs. Taylor to add to the lighter side. The cookery quiz was enjoyed by all, two tying for first place Mrs. Islierwood read a very interesting Golden Thread on "Women ol' China." : The competitions for the month resulted as follows: Guest towels: Mrs. Isherwood Ist, Mrs. Williams 2nd. . Best knitted article from unravelled wool: Mrs. Benfell winning the honours, while Mrs. iSandlant displayed the three best leeks. Mrs. Fisher was successful in gaining the cup for the second month for a tiny bowl of small flowers.
