PUPILS' RECITAL

ANNUAL MUSICAL EVENT

The annual musical recital of the pupils •of Miss Mary Findlater, L.R.S.M., drew a "capacity" audience to the Lower Hutt Baptist Church recently where a most enjoyable programme was presented. Pianoforte solos were given by Janette Walker, Jim Thomas, Cynthia Cartwright, Margaret McCallum, Rosalie North, Adrienne Ellis, Graham Edridge, Heather Brown, lan Rankine, Fay Clarkson, Pauline Rothwell, Gwen Giblin, Margaret Rogers, Dorothy Bowater, Marjorie O'Brien, Paddy Mitchell, Marguerite Carter, Lois Davis, Faye Monk, Barbara Macaskill, Richard Gillingham, Margaret Deal, Alison Wallace, Keith Adams, Janet Poole, Janet Maclty, Audrey Nees, Claire Drummond, Vetia Stewart.

Duets were rendered by Dawn Stewart and Marget Lines; Nancy and Patricia Upton; Lauris Carter and Naness Marshall; Noeline and Maire Peck.

Duos (on two pianos) were played |>y Joy Batts and Lynaire Mcßain; Vetia Stewart and Isobel Thomson.

Quartettes (on two pianos) were played by Claire Drummond, Joan Sullivan, Alison Wallace and Gweneth Maud. Also by lan and Dennis Carey; Gordon Edmeades and Bill Alington. And Margery Maclcy, Audrey Nees, Cynthia Cartwright and Margaret McCallum.

Much appreciated were three vocal solos by Faye Monk, Jean Henderson and Norman Freeman, and two recitations by Hazel Guise.

During tlie evening Mrs. E. W. Batts presented the certificates won at the Pianoforte Examinations to Janette Walker, Lynaire Mcßain, Margaret McCallum, Cynthia Cartwright and Maire Nees, and a special prize to Richard Gillingham for memory work. Mrs Batts also congratulated Miss Findlater on the splendid performances given by her pupils. As a mark of appreciation a bouquet (made by Mrs. G. G. ,Scott) was presented to Miss Findlater.
