Table Tennis
<8> With the object of keeping clubs and players informed of the activities of the Association the executive are making every effort to give publicity of all interesting matters relating to furthering the interests of tlie game. At the next meeting of the executive many items of interest are to be discussed and.for your information a brief summary Is as follows:—Attention is' to be given to extending the activities of the Association to those districts in the Hutt Valley and surrounding .areas coming wihin the boundaries of this Association. At present no clubs north of Lower Hutt City nor at Eastbourne are affiliated and exhibition matches in these districts will possibly be arranged. Greater encouragement is to be given to the younger players by arranging for tb£ir, poaching by competent players;-; ; 1. More interest in matches by introducing s : a poJpts championship to be awarded to the team in any grade scoring the greatest number of points during the season; also an award to the player scoring like-' wise. The working out of the points ( is by subtracting from the total | points scored those scored by the op-| posing team or player. ' The lady players to be given more opportunity to improve their play by arranging suitable practice matches whenever possible. The question of gaining public support by giving the local residents the opportunity of seeing Table Tennis played will come about by hiring suitable halls and giving publicity in this paper to the matched to be
played. If the Association hopes to compete with other sports more efforts will have to he made to build up sufficient funds so that ample accommodation can be secured when hostilities cease. We predict u great increase in playing personnel when normal times come again, as many new adherents have taken up tlu; game, especially noticeable from the Ann ed Forces, possibily on account of the facilities being available in tlu; camps. The social side of the Association's activities have in the past not been given sufficient attention, and no doubt this will be a matter to be discussed by the executive. The Randwick Club which is situated in the St. Stephen's Hall. Randwick Road, still have vacancies for five or six additional' members. Practice nights Tuesdays and Thursdays.
