iiOWKII i!li'TT (LCI! The fifteenth. anniuil general meeting was held last week and was well attended by members. The president, .Mr. J. \V. Andrews, acted as chairman of the meeting. The I'ullowing officers wtre elected for Hie coniinsr season: ('resident, Mr. J. W. Andrews; vice-president, Mr. A.; Marshall; lion, solicitor, Mr. N. T. Gillespie; Jion. auditor, Mr. A. Aekroyd; hon. secretary, Mr. I . J. Hills; hon. treasurer, Mr. .1. A. Kennedy; club captain, Mr. C. McCorinack; management committee: Ales dames 1. J. Hills and (1. M. S'ratluoro. Messrs 11. Alurch, (1. M. Stratniore, D. I'. Smith ami H. Taylor. Miss ?>I. Csreen, H. S. Hart, I-I. G. Murray, A. 11. Tilbury and L. O. Evans retiring members of the previous season's committee were thanked l'or their services to the club. The committee were also thanked for their action in obtaining aullioient balls l'or the coming season. The report showed that there are 5;! members (male and female) now serving with the armed forces, and tribute; was paid to the memory of John I>ut.t who recently lost his life in action overseas. One of the few original members of the cluh, L. O. Evans, who has recently acted as secretary, advised that lie would shortly be leaving the district to take up farming, was elected as a life member in appreciation of his services in various capacities over a number ol' years. A farewell to Mr. Evans, held in the pavilion on Saturday, August 15th, was well attended by members. and, after thanking Mr Evans lot his services and extending the best wishes of all members, Lifemember T. li. Sherwood asked bun to accept a striking clock suitably engraved as a tangible appreciation of his services. A3 id-week Club Jt. is proposed to form a, midweek club for women players for which hard courts will be available from .Monday Io Friday each week. Intending members are asked to communicate wiih (tie secretary and, owing to the. large number of members serving with the armed forces, out of the district, there are a number of vacancies in the club. The official opening of the new season is to take place on Saturday September I'Mli.
