CONCERT
H.V. MEMORIAL TECHNICAL COLLEGE The annual concert of the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College will lake place in the King George Theatre, Lower Hutt.. on Wednesday and Thursday. August 19 and 20. Details are advert-ised elsewhere in this issue. The concerts of this College are now a musical event to be anticipated with pleasure Many of our readers will still have happy memories of last, year's concert in which a young army of instrumentalists, singers, dancers and actors gave entertainment of outstanding merit to patrons. We are informed that this year's production will be of the same high standard. The Technical College is one of the leading schools in the Dominion for the attention given to music as one of the extra activities of the pupils That this is bearing wonder ful fruit win" be evinced at this year's concert wlion some one hundred and fifty instrumentalists will provide orchestral and brass band music of a standard rarely achieved in schools. We strongly recommend our readers who have not yet heard the College, orchestras to do so at the forthcoming concert. We are sure that they will not be disappointed. Another feature of the College's music is choir work. Both a massed choir and a special choir will be heard in brackets of unison, twopart and threepart songs, and songs with descant.
Dramatic work and dancing will also receive attention again in this year's programme and will contribute to the enjoyment of a wellbalanced entertainment. The prices of admission are popular, and intending patrons are advised to reserve their seats as the' booking is usually very heavy Special buses will run before and after the concert for the benefit of Petone residents. They leave Teton Post Offic at 7.20, 7.30 and 7.40 p.m
