R.S.A. Notes
Diggers' Night was held on Saturday, July lUli and the U.S.A. Clubrooms were well iilled with returned servicemen, their wives and Families, lor tins periodical function which has become so pupular. The proceedings opened with the singing of "Clod Defend New Zealand," i'oil lowed by a programme of musical items aud dancing. Songs were; rendered by M Baker. Miss Phoebe Lawson, Miss Lorraine Hunt and Mr. McLauchlin. and community singing was indulged in by the children with much enthusiasm. The M.C. was Mr. S. Little and the accompanists Messrs i'\ Smith and Mr. It. Wood. An excellent supper was served by the Ladies' Committee under the leadership of Mrs. J. Hunt who was also programme convenor l'or the evening. The evening concluded with the singing of Aula' Lang Syne and the National Anthem The U.S.A. younger set are still very much "on deck" and announce another of their 5 0/50 dances for Thursday, July Kith. With good music, lirst-cass floor and excellent supper, nothing is wanting to provide an evening of real dancing enjoyment.
