EPUNI WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

The Epuni Women's Institute held its second birthday recently. The president, Mrs. Harris, was in the j chair, and welcomed all present, j Visitors representing other institutes were presented with a shoulder spray in the form of a V. The Drama Circle entertained with sev- a eral items during the afternoon, p Mrs. Sproul sang two enjoyable solos, and Mrs 1 . Anderson gave some humorous monologues, which were n much appreciated. They were ac- n corilecl a hearty vote of thanks, and each was presented with shoulder £ spray, also in the form of aV. The t] president; Mrs. Sissons (secretary), j and Mrs. Potts (treasurer) were each presented with a novelty bouquet of sweets. It was reported by the patriotic convenor that eleven knitted articles had been handed in during the month, also Christmas parcels had been sent to members' soldier husbands and sons who are serving overseas. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mrs. Sole, convener sf the gardening circle, for all her work. The silver cup for the best . flower was won by Mrs. Sole and Mrs. Potts tieing. Mrs. Sproul was the winner of the competition for the afternoon. The committee then j served a beautiful home-made alter- j noon tea.
