The main party continued the descent through scrub and stump land, and after, some heavy going through swamps and bogs on the flat, reached the main swamp road. Proceeding in half-section formation, tho party reached the junction of the main Wainui Road. Here a rearguard was put out and the commencement of the return journey over the hill road begun. The Hutt was reached without incident and at 2 p.m. (approximate) the parade was dismissed.
