APPEAL FOR HANDKERCHIEFS
The (Mrs. J. W. Andrews) is a special appeal for khaki handkerchiefs for inclusion in soldiers' Christmas parcels. Lower Hutt's quota of parcels is 678, and, with khaki handkerchiefs at 1/- each, it will S cpst the Patriotic Society nearly £35 to include one in each parcel. This large item of expenditure can be avoided if the handkerchiefs are donated. It is suggested that ladies cut squares of suitable size from old white or coloured materials, hem them by hand or on a sewing machine, and leave them at Ackroyd's Book Shop, 7" High Street. The Patriotic Society will arrange to have them dyed khaki, as this can be done very cheaply.
