FAREWELL PARTY

MEMBER OP W.W.S.A

Representatives of the Hutt Valley High School Old Pupils' Association, the Lower Hutt Tennis Club and the Old Pupils' Association Badminton Club were amongst the large crowd which gathered at the Eva Draper Studio on Wednesday evening last to farewell Miss Volande Hunter, who is going overseas to serve with the W.W.S.A. A number of relations and family friends also attended. The evening was spent in dancing, and a singing competition was organised by the M.C., Mr. W. O'Shaughnessy. Mr. J. N. Millard, who proposed" the health of the guest of honour, spoke of MiBS Hunter's spotting achievements and'the interest she had taken in her school, the Hutt Valley High School. He wished her every success, and said, amld3t laughter, that as young ladies who married while in service returned to New Zealand, he took it that Miss Hunter would not be away from her friends very long. On behalf of the guests, Mr. W. O'Shaughnessy then made a presentation to Miss Hunter. The toast to Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hunter was proposed by Mr. W. F. Drake, and Mr. Hunter replied. A home-made buffet supper was served, and the evening concluded with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
