PIIXJT OFFICER McMUKTKIE. Pilot Officer Alexander Douglad (Lex.) McMurtrie, who is reported to have lost his life as result of an aircraft accident in England, Was the only son of Mr. A. F. McMuri trie, Assistant Director of Education, and Mrs. E. McMurtrie, of 615 High Street, Lower Hutt. Pilot Officer McMurtrie was 21 years of age. He was educated at the, Takapuna Public School, Takapuna Grammar School, and the Wanganui Technical College. At the date of his enlistment with the R.N.Z.A.F. he was on the staff of the National Bank, being stationed in the general manager's office in. Wellington. He;completed his training as a pilot In New Zealand,. was granted a commission, and proceeded to England in March last.
