Hutt Hospital
MBS. .P. DOWSE PKOTESTS Ax'
DELAY.
At last Thursday's meeting of the Wellington Hospital Board, Mrs P.- Dowße protested vigorously against the reply sent to the Wellington Women's Service Guild asking that the board give preceuence of the building of the Hutt Valley Hospital over all other buildings. The board had replied that it was proceeding as expeditiously as possible with each of the building proposals now in hand. Mrs. Dowse said the reply was anything but definite and said she was daily becoming more convinced that the Hutt Valley scheme was receiving only secondary consideration. The Royal Commission had recommended that the Hutt .Valley hospital should have precedence and, said Mrs! Dowse, if that recommendation was necessary at the time of the mission's sitting it was even more urgent now with the alarming overcrowding of the hospital, and the increase in population and the presence in the Hutt district of the
Trentham military camp with its 1700 men. Mrs. Dowse contended that if the city and the nutt schemes were proceeding simUitane ously' the position would not be so bad.
